Church Anniversary Hymn

Grant that we your Word may cherish
and its purity retain.
Lord, unless you are the builder,
all our labor is in vain.
Keep us from all pride and boasting,
vanity and foolish trust,
knowing that our work without you
soon will crumble into dust.

— “God the Father, Son, and Spirit.”  (Christian Worship 623:3).

  1. Hi vinayakah. Thanks for stopping by.

The Son is the second person of the Trinity, while woman is the second person of humanity. Woman was made from man: “God made a woman from the part he had taken out of the man. . . The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman for she was taken out of man.'” (Genesis 2:22-23). The Son on the other hand is “begotten of His Father . . . begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made . . .” (Nicene Creed). So Man (humanity) was created in God’s image, but God was not finished creating humanity until he brought woman to man, and told them to procreate.

  2. if we, as human beings, were created to His image, how could there be no Mother, if there is father and son?

Is the family not a reflection to the divine family?

  3. Hello again vinayakah.

The Son was not born or made, instead he is eternally begotten of the Father. Just as your body is the physical expression of yourself and is you, so also the Son is the expression of God or in other words is The Word of God. (John 1:1). Jesus said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9). Just as your body and mind are both you but are not the same thing, so also the Son and the Father are both God, but two persons. Like Jesus, you could say, “Anyone who has seen my body, has seen me;” but in order to see the full “you,” you have to express yourself through your body. So also God expressed himself through himself as Christ.

The Trinity is three persons in one God, and since none of them had a beginning there is no giving birth. A mother implies a birth and a beginning, but all three persons of the Trinity are eternal without a beginning.

  4. if we use the human descriptions for the God, as Father, Son….. Is the 3rd person of the trinity not worth the name Mother than? Could God express Himself through the Son without (Holy) Spirit?

What is than the task of the Holy Spirit in the Trinity that is unbreakable onnenes of God? The Son was an expression of God that is the Onenes of Trinity and so also of the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit participated on Son´s expression, as It is one with Him same as He is one with the Trinity.

If no one is giving birth to none other, why one part of it is called Father? Giving birth to the creation? Same way the other part can be called Mother, as being part of the Oneness of Trinity, She participated on the creation.

We call a person “father” only in case, he has children that were born of him, or he has created something. So he is the father of what he created.

Therefore if one part of the Trinity (whose expression Son is) is called by humans “Father” for He gave birth to creation, the another part is called Son, what would be the name for the 3rd part? The name will be Mother, the Holy Ghost. As it was a Holy Ghost that gave birth to the apostles during pentecost, thats why She is their Mother, that is part of Trinity.

  5. Hello vinayakah.

The human terms “Father” and “Son” are used so that we can begin to grasp something that is beyond our understanding. They are not meant to limit our understanding of God to the merely human.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, not the second. The Holy Spirit “proceeds from the Father and the Son.” (Nicene Creed). Just as a human relationship has a sort of “spirit” in that every relationship between two people is different and has its own sort of “personality,” so also the relationship of love between the Father and Son is a Spirit and this Spirit is an actual person: the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, and “God is love.” (1 John 4:16).

The Son is “begotten of His Father” and the Holy Spirit “proceeds from the Father and the Son,” thus within the Trinity the Son does not come from the Holy Spirit. (Nicene Creed). God’s Son is not the Father’s Son in the same way human men have sons. Human fathers and sons are not united as two persons in one being. Human families are not united as three persons in one being. Even though we are made in the image of God, we are not exactly like God, he is much more exalted than we are.

Here are some quotes from the Son, Jesus, about the Holy Spirit:

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17).

“When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.” (John 15:26).

Human beings are born of mothers, so also the Son was born of a mother and became fully human. His human name is Jesus. For our salvation, he “came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man . . .” (Nicene Creed).

  6. Thank you for an answer.
It is one of the opinions or descriptions, and one of them you post here (Nicene Creed).
Any word can be used, and desribed, as one likes, or needs. Thats why we have so many religions claiming they are the right ones, having their support in their own books, or in the same book but in different decription of its content.

What happened but to the Apostles during the Pentecost, wasnt based on reading, or any kind of ritual, as we know – it was pure happening, and it is clearly described, how it happened, and how did it look like, when Holy Ghost descended upon them, as a “tongues of could flame”. Similar happening is but described by many other religions or cultures before, and also after Jesus was on this earth. B yso many of them, and same way… So, the question is, can you repeat it, to provide the people by the blessing of receiving the Holy Ghost? Happily, it can be proved that it happened, as we know how that happening looks like, comparing it with the description in Bible.

You state so nicely what Jesus said: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17).

How will you recognize this Spirit of truth after it is sent by Jesus, to testify about Him, and be with us forever? Who is that, do you know how to recognize it?

  7. Hello again vinayakah. I hope this answers your question.

We recognize the Spirit by His actions in us. The blessing given at Pentecost was given to Jesus’ Apostles (those he sent out to preach his word), thus the Apostle John says:

We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. . . God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [1 John 4:6-5:1, 11].

We recognize the Spirit by His actions in us: The “fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22).

We receive the Spirit of life through God’s Word and Sacrament. God makes a promise and thereby creates faith. Just as God created through his Word by saying “Let there be light,” so also God creates through his Word by saying “Believe.” He speaks his word of promise to us, and we live through faith. He sent his Apostles to speak his word for him, and they recorded his testimony in the Scriptures (the Bible) and also trained others to repeat his testimony to all generations.

  8. Thank you for nice anwer. It is beautiful to read the words of God.

Unfortunately but dont answer the questions I posted.

Jesus told us, that anyone that will have fight in him, will do what he has been doing, and will do even greater things than this….. (John 14-12)
I wanted to find out, if you could do, what Jesus did to the Apostles, during the Pentecost, when Holy Spirit descended upon them, as “tounges of cold flame”. Our beloved Father, gave us the description of that blessing of Holy Spirit, to see, and recognize the false ones, from the true, by knowing, how it has to happen, in case someone will preach in his name, and will be false. We have his Words to see, and recognize. So no one can hide behind anything, and claim it happened, in a different way….as Father showed us, by his words, and deeds, the true process of that.

The second question, was regarding the recognition of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is going to ask Father, to send us, after he returns to his Father – “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14-26)
It means the Holy Spirit should come, and teach us all things… How will you recognize the Holy Spirit, who is it that Counselor, to tech us?

These were the questions I asked, just to understand right direction of the spiritual path.

    Thank you

  9. Whoever speaks the truth about Jesus does what Jesus did by causing the Spirit to come down and work in the hearts of his hearers. One of the greatest things Jesus did was speak the truth. The people he healed from sickness and raised from the dead died again. But the people who believed his message will rise again on the last day to live forever. Jesus spoke to few, but his Apostles (who received on Pentecost the unique gift of infallibility in order to write the Scriptures) spoke to many, that is what is referred to by “even greater things than this.” I can’t grant the gift of infallibility, but I can give the infallible Scriptures:

The Spirit of truth is recognized by these words of truth: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).

May God bless you on your journey vinayakah.

  10. Thank you for the words.

Sometimes, if people need to face the truth, they use words, but dont answer….

I asked, if you can do what Jesus did, to keep the Holy Ghost to descend upon people, as described in Bible, and it seems you cant. It wasnt given to the apostles only for the preaching of his word. It was given to them as a blessing from Father, same as it happened to many others before – it is a process, and we can see from the bible how exactly should it happen (blessing from father to recognize true ones from untrue ones).

To speak the truth doesnt mean to read the words of a scripture. What would happen if a devil would read the holy words – would he be speaking truth? The speaking truth means something different. Our Lord Jesus, was speaking the truth about his Father as he KNEW his Father, so it was truth. He but didnt know him by reading or listening to the words – he knew him in reality.

May you wake up from your ignorance of truth, into the reality, as the time is near, when all will be seen so cleraly, of who is who….

    Holy ghost is here!!

  11. vinayakah,

I suspect that English is a second language for you. If this is true, may I refer you to someone who speaks your language, and could maybe better answer your questions?

No, I cannot make the Holy Spirit do anything: “The wind blows wherever it pleases.” (John 3:8). But all “Scripture is God-breathed,” and He always keeps His promises, that in specific places He will be there for us. (2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 18:20, Luke 22:19)

  12. It is not about the language, Rick, but about the content you miss…. By any question it is possible to open a book, and write some passage out of it that says nothing to the question itself, and I am sure you know what I am talking about. You opened Bible, but if I would ask the same question a muslim, he would open his book, and do the same as you…and miss the point. Answer the questions I made in my last post for yourself, did you do it or not?

Christ didnt open any books to answer, and made his disciples to become what he was talking about. If you cant give it to others, you are same as the farizeys holding their books in time of Christ – against him, and are away from truth…..

To say “I am that” is not sufficient, you need to BE that, whatever it is… Read my post again lease, and this time see the content – at least once. ;)

  13. vinayakah,

If English is not your first language, there are others who are better qualified to answer your questions. When an English question is phrased rhetorically, an answer is not expected, thus you received no answer. Nonetheless, you said/asked, “To speak the truth doesn’t mean to read the words of a scripture. What would happen if a devil would read the holy words – would he be speaking truth?”

The most effective lies contain elements of truth, therefore, the devil tells partial truths. A lie does not have to be 100% false, it only needs to be partly false in order to deceive. In fact, the more truth a lie has, the more powerful and effective the lie is. Therefore, it is not surprising when the devil quotes the true words of Scripture, he does it all the time. But that is also why we must read the Scriptures as a whole and in accordance with the way the Church from the time of Christ and the Apostles has always understood those Scriptures so that we do not make ourselves into our own authorities.

You also assert that “Christ didn’t open any books to answer . . .” however, Jesus often said, “It is written.” He was a Jewish rabbi.

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'”

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'” [Matthew 4:5-7].

  14. Dear Rick,

As I said, it is not a problem of a language, but of content you miss. I wanted to know honestly the truth about yourself, and the organisation you represent, claiming to be of God, and asked humbly, if you can do what Jesus did, to keep the Holy Ghost to descend upon people, as described in Bible. As Holy Bible says that anyone that will have fight in Jesus, will do what he has been doing, and will do even greater things than this….. (John 14-12).

This is a holy word to make us recognize, who is who, in this dark times. As anyone can take a holy scipture, and speak the words of it…even evil can, as seen during genocide of american indians, or murdering of “witches” in the medieval times…. and there is innumerable ammount of churches claiming they are the only righ ones. But only the true ones can do what Bible says they will do, if they are true. And they can be recognized by their fruit as said.

There are many traps in this world now, and the truth is to be recognized and understood by deeds, not by words only. Your answers are always like of snake, undirect and unclear: “But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes ‘ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil.” [Matthew 5:37].

We need to know who is who because:
“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ [Matthew 7:22-23].

I dont know who you are, and what you really represent, but your answers are sneaky, and not real anwers, but as of monkey, jumping from one tree to the another.

It is said, who has the water in a pitch, can give dring to others. Who doest have, cannot give. The water I talk about, is the “cold tongues of fire” beyond the head of the apostles during the pentecost.
