The Lord’s Bow

IMG_1217

And God said,

This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:

I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.  When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh.  And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.

When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.

— Genesis 8:12-16, ESV.

Rain and Promises

Rain falls in front of a sunset in Freedom, WI.  There was a beautiful rainbow on the other side.  The sillouhette is of trees and an old barn.

Rain falls in a blue sky.

Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?

[Job 38:28].

This sunset with rain reminds me of God’s promise to Noah:

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:  I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.  Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.  Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. . .”  So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

[Genesis 9:12-17].

May God bless you.

God has also made another promise to all men: a covenant of forgiveness in the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ: that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16).
