Hartman Creek near Waupaca, Wisconsin
There is something quite beautiful about the way the pine needles shimmer in the late afternoon summer sun (that I’ve never been able to capture with a camera). This place seems to me like a slice of heaven.
Mist from campfire smoke and water vapor.
Even tainted by sin, God’s creation remains wondrous. But the greatest beauty of all is God’s mercy in Christ. In him all things will be made new.
Mist on the creek.
Christ is much more than just a slice of heaven. He is life itself. (John 14:6).
God’s blessings to you.
Mountain biking, hiking, and watching the sunset at High Cliff.
The pictures in this post are from Labor Day weekend 2016 A.D.
Swimming, watching the waves and clouds, enjoying the cool breeze, meditating, praying, and reading Tainted by Morgan Busse on the beach at Whitefish Dunes.
Hiking at Whitefish Dunes.
Mountain biking at Peninsula.
Biking the Sunset Trail, mountain biking, picnicking, biking the Sunset Trail again, and more mountain biking for good measure. That landmass on the horizon is Chambers Island (just west of Adventure Island).
At the end of the day at Peninsula State Park, a sudden realization. Also thankful for the car I purchased brand new sixteen years ago. 199,000! That’s worth one last photo before leaving. 16 years, 199,000 miles. Thank you Lord Jesus.
In this world, some imagine “that godliness is a means of gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.” (1 Timothy 6:5-6, ESV).
I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.
I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
— Philippians 4:11-20, ESV.
May you have a blessed Thanksgiving in every circumstance. Thank you for visiting, and may God be with you always.
If we just consume & go shopping, and forget to be thankful, we will have missed the point of the holiday. A life cannot be good or happy unless it is lived in gratitude.
A blessed Thanksgiving to you.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV.
